VEGETABLE GARDENING





Master Gardener Gary Rupert of Bedminster, NJ will present a program on vegetable gardening at the Clarence Dillon Public Library on Sunday, May 5, 2013.  The program will be held in the library’s new Community Garden and will begin at 2:00 pm.  Admission is free and registration is recommended but not required.  Please register by calling the library at 908-234-2325 or by email ref@dillonlibrary.org or in person at the circulation desk.

BARNES MUSEUM COLLECTION LECTURE






Princeton lecturer Barbara Tomlinson will present a program on the fabulous art collection of the Barnes Museum of Philadelphia with her trademark blend of artistic insight, cultural comment, and engaging anecdotes. The program is on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at the Clarence Dillon Public Library. The program will begin at 2:00 pm.

AMERICA AT WAR 1941-1945






Professor James Kane will present his acclaimed program on America at War 1941 – 1945 at the Clarence Dillon Public Library. There will be three sessions that include lecture, slides, and music. All session begin at 5:30 pm. The sessions are:


Wednesday, April 17, 2013 – The Attack on Pearl Harbor

Wednesday, April 24, 2013 – The D-Day Landings at Normandy

Wednesday, May 1, 2013 – The Home Front

The programs will be held in The Friends Café in the library and are free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served and no reservation is required.

GEORGE MARRINER MAULL TO PRESENT A PROGRAM ON COMPOSER ANTONIO VIVALDI






George Marriner Maull will present a program on Vivaldi’s “Spring” and “Summer” movements of his exuberant composition “Four Seasons” at the Clarence Dillon Public Library on Sunday, April 14, 2013. The program will begin at 2:00 pm.
George Marriner Maull is the founder and artistic director of The Discovery Orchestra and was the conductor of its predecessor entity, the Philharmonic Orchestra of New Jersey. He was formerly Music Director and Conductor of the Louisville Ballet, Louisville Singers, and the New Jersey Youth Symphony. He has appeared as guest conductor with orchestras across the United States including appearances at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, as well as in England, Belgium, The Netherlands, Poland, Hungary, and Romania.

UNDERSTANDING ISLAM






Zaheer Jan of Bedminster, New Jersey and a lecturer at numerous local institutions will lead two sessions of a program “Understanding Islam” at the Clarence Dillon Public Library. The first session is on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 and the topic will be Islam’s philosophy and contribution to the world’s civilization. The second session is on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 and the topic is on the current state of Islam. Both sessions are from 5:30 – 6:15 pm and will include interactive discussions.
