MAGIC CONDUCTOR'S READING ADVENTURE










Steve Woyce’s The Magic Conductor’s Reading Adventure will visit the Clarence Dillon Public Library on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 10:30 am.  Join Steve the Magic Conductor and search for clues to help solve a mystery!  This fun-filled family program combines magic, storytelling, and audience participation and will have everyone excited about reading.  All aboard!   

The program will be held in the downstairs meeting rooms of the library.  Admission is free but registration is requested.  Please register by calling the library at 908-234-2325 ext. 107 or in person in the Children’s Library.  For more information please contact Helen Petersen, Children’s Librarian.

FIVE SPECIAL AMERICANS LECTURE










Professor James Kane will present a program on the lives of five special Americans:  Emily Dickinson, John Steinbeck, Ella Wheeler Wilcox, Ernest Hemingway, and F. Scott Fitzgerald.  The program will be held on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at 2:00 pm. His fast-paced lecture covers their lives, their times, their remarkable works and what happens to each at the end.  As poets and writers each of these individuals moved America.  Professor James Kane is a popular literary speaker who never fails to amuse and move his audiences.

PIANIST MISUZU TANAKA RECITAL








Pianist Misuzu Tanaka will perform works of the great 19th century Romantic-era composers at the Clarence Dillon Public Library on Sunday. November 1, 2015.  The recital will begin at 2:00 pm. Ms. Tanaka studied piano at the Julliard School with Martin Canin and chamber music with Jacob Lateiner, Seymour Lipkin, and Robert Mann.  She holds a Masters in Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the University of Michigan.  She has performed at Lincoln Center, Washington’s Kennedy Center, and across Europe and Japan.   She has established herself as an artist of remarkable individuality with a rare combination of poetic sensitivity and breathtaking virtuosity.

PIANIST HONG KIEW KIM








The brilliant young international pianist Hong Kiew Kim will perform at the Clarence Dillon Public Library on Sunday, October 4, 2015.  He will perform a selection of classical music including pieces by Beethoven, Bach, and Chopin. The recital will begin at 2:00 pm.

Hong Kiew Kim has continued to charm and dazzle audiences throughout the United States and abroad.  Mr. Kim has made several appearances at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Steinway Hall in New York City.  He also appeared as a soloist with the Vienna International Orchestra.  madeseveral appearances in Carnegie Weill Recital Hall, Lincoln Center and the Steinway Hall in NY. ORIGAMI STORYTELLING








Megan Hicks will present Origami Storytelling at the Clarence Dillon Public Library on Friday, July 24, 2015 at 4:00 pm.  The program is an origami paper magic puppet show with lots of audience participation.  The program also includes a hands-on craft activity and is appropriate for ages 6 and up. Origami Storytelling is part of the library’s Summer Reading Program “Every Hero Has a Story” and is sponsored by The Friends of the Clarence Dillon Public Library.
