IMMORTAL ITALIAN LOVE SONGS





The Capitol Heights Lyric Opera Ensemble of New York City will present a program of Italian love songs at the Clarence Dillon Public Library on Sunday, October 6, 2013.  The program will begin at 2:00 pm.  Great opera arias of Verdi and Puccini as well as Neapolitan ballads will be performed by three members of the Ensemble.

The program will take place in the downstairs meeting rooms of the library.  Admission is $5.00 which is payable at the door.  Registration is requested but not required.    Please register by calling the library at 908-234-2325 or by email ref@dillonlibrary.org or in person at the circulation desk.

THE BOYS OF SUMMER







The incomparable story of the 1950’s Brooklyn Dodgers will be brought to life in a lecture by Professor James Kane at the Clarence Dillon Public Library on Sunday, September 29, 2013.  More than a baseball tale, this story follows their love affair with their fans, the rivalry with the New York Yankees, and the afterlives of their great stars.  The program will begin at 2:00 pm.

EBOOKS CLASSES






The Clarence Dillon Public Library is offering classes on accessing free ebooks from the library.  The class will demonstrate how to search for titles, checkout, and download them onto a tablet, ereader, or smartphone.  The classes will be held on Saturday, Sept 14, 2013 from 10:30 am – 12:00 pm and on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm.  One-on-One assistance with ebooks is always available from the reference librarians during library hours.

INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL



 Join us on Tuesday evenings during July and August for screenings of some of the best current and classic foreign language films.  All screenings begin at 6:45 pm and  contain English subtitles.  Refreshments are provided.

CHILDREN'S GARDEN








The Clarence Dillon Public Library will be offering a series of special events in their Children’s Garden on selected Saturdays.  Puppets, balloon art, magic, music, and/or face painting will be provided to children of all ages on May 18, June 15, July 20, and August 17, 2013.    Please register by calling the Children’s Department of the library at 908-234-2325 ext. 107 or by email at ref@dillonlibrary.org.or in person at the library.  The programs will be from 10 – 11:30 am and will be held rain or shine.

The Children’s Garden is also open on Tuesdays from 3-4 pm beginning May 14, 2013 and on Saturdays from 10am – 12pm on Saturdays beginning May 18, 2013

PIANO RECITALS






The Clarence Dillon Public Library begins an ongoing program of half hour piano recitals by some of the many gifted young piano students in our community.  There will be three programs held on Wednesdays in May beginning at 5:30 pm.  The recitals will be held on May 8, 15, and 22, 2013.  

 
The programs will be held in the sunny Friends CafĂ© of the library.  There is free admission  and no reservation is needed.  Refreshments will be served but space is limited; first come, first served.
