The sublime music of Johann Sebastian Bach and his
extraordinary career and persona are explored by Sandy Putnam followed by an
exceptional local virtuoso, Meghan Jin, on the library’s grand piano on Sunday,
January 17, 2016 at 2:00 pm. Johann
Sebastian Bach was a magnificent classical composer who is revered for his
musical complexities and innovations.
Pianist Meghan Jin is a
13-year old 8th grader at William Annin Middle School in Basking Ridge, New
Jersey. She started studying the piano with Ms. Gloria Chu when she was
4. A serious student of the piano, Meghan has competed and received top
places in a number of auditions and competitions in NJ and NY in the past 8
years. She was the 1st place
winner at the 2014 Piano Teachers Congress New York Competition, 2nd place winner (solo) and 3rd place (concerto) at the 2014
MEA completion, 1st place
winner at 2015 Music Festival Rising Star Competition, 2nd place winner (concerto) at the 2015
MEA completion, and received Honorable Mention in 2015 Steinway Scholarship
Competition. Most recently, Meghan won 3rd place at the 2015 NJMTA Young
Musicians Competition. As winners of some of these events, she has
enjoyed the opportunities to perform at Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall,
Alice Tully Hall, Riders University and City University of NJ.
The program will be held in the
downstairs meeting rooms of the library.
