Composer Felix Mendelssohn is the subject of a lecture at the Clarence Dillon Public Library on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at 2:00 pm. Sandy Putnam, library director and frequent classical music lecturer, will cover Mendelssohn’s most beautiful works and his huge influence over all of 19th century music.A local middle school piano virtuoso will join Sandy in exploring Mendelssohn's music.

Mendelssohn was a prolific and gifted composer who has been regarded by many as
the 19th century equivalent of Mozart. His “Wedding March” from “A Midsummer Night’s
Dream” has accompanied many a bride down the aisle. Besides a composer, he was a talented pianist
and conductor and founded the Leipzig Conservatory of Music.
The program
will be held in the downstairs meeting rooms of the library. Admission is free. Enrollment is suggested but not
